Pixies magic as the original emo?

Ah the good ol days.

In this article The Pixies and contemporaies (Husker Du, Fugazi, Black Flag) are described as the original emo?

That is funny.

It's a long stretch to associate the musical/lyrical styles of the Pixies with emo.

Frank Black is sarcastic and quirky; writing songs about biblical figures and random stuff. Emo is too literal, pleading and self involved. There is too much emphasis on the artist with modern pop and less on the actual music. The artist should serve their craft not the other way around.

Santiago's guitar style is nothing like Emo either. The use of non scale tones, complex rhythmns (ie tromple monde 4/4 time to 3/4 with an interesting transition between the two), a dancy feel created by the early shift in harmony before the beat and the surf influence.

Anyone that tries to compare the two is talking out their ass.

Have you ever even listened to emo, you fucking dumbass?

Are you telling me "Where is my mind?" isn't a similar style of music to the mid 90s emo of Sunny Day Real Estate, Jimmy EAt World or Weezer?
